The Central Virginia Soccer Association

30+ Years of the Best Adult Soccer in the Richmond Area

Welcome to the website of the Central Virginia Soccer Association. This site is updated perpetually and will contain current schedules, standings, and other happenings in the league.

The Central Virginia Soccer Association (CVSA) is a non-profit, adult soccer league headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. Games are played at various sites in the city of Richmond and Henrico County. The league is in its 32nd year of operation, having started play in the Fall of 1975, and is the oldest and most competitive in the Richmond Metropolitan Area. The CVSA is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) through its membership in the Metro D. C. - Virginia Soccer Association (MDCVSA), with whom it participates in U. S. Open Cup, USASA National Cup and MDCVSA State & Challenge Cup tournaments. The CVSA has hosted the MDCVSA State Championships for the last four years at the Bryan Park Soccer Complex.

Currently for the Spring '07 season the league has 108 teams and over 7,100 registered players, approximately 1,800 of whom are currently active. "Eleven-a-side" competition runs during two seasons: the Spring season typically runs from February to May; the Fall season typically runs from September to December. The current Spring season offers seven open divisions totalling 68 teams, as well as a Masters (30+) Division, a Veterans (40+) Division, a new Women's Division and 2 Coed Divisions.

2004-'05 MDCVSA State Championships

The 2004-'05 MDCVSA State Championships are complete!

After three consecutive unsucessful trips to the MDCVSA State Cup Championship game, Lions FC of the Central Virginia Soccer Association (CVSA) became the ultimate models of persistence, defeating Sharks of the Northern Virginia Soccer League to take their first State Cup title, 4:0 at Bryan Park on June 12.

Completing a sweep for the CVSA was Sidewalk Café, who defeated local league rivals Lions Express 4:3 in a penalty kick shootout after drawing 1:1 after extra time at Bryan Park.

Details are still rolling in concerning individual statistics; consult 2004-'05 MDCVSA State Championships page for more information.

The women's competitions - Women's State Cup, Women's Challenge Cup, & Women's Veterans Cup - are not currently scheduled due to lack of interest. The Men's Veterans Cup has fallen by the wayside as well.

2004-'05 USASA National Amateur Cup

The Fan Rats were unable to defend their 2003-'04 state-level USASA National Cup title, losing to Dynamos FC of the Washington Premier League 0:1 on an overtime penalty kick. The Rats defeated LCC International & the Aegean Hawks of the WPL on their way to the championship game.

Central Virginia Champions League

The 2004 CVCL competition is cancelled due to the fact that the CVSA is the only USASA-sanctioned league in the Richmond area. The CVSA will attempt to pick up the pieces in 2005 and resurrect the competition with some help from Fredericksburg, Tidewater, & Charlottesville.

Bryan Park Soccer Complex

The Bryan Park Soccer Complex is open, new, and improved! The complex has five Bermuda-grass fields, with the primary tenants the CVSA, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the Richmond Kicker's Youth Soccer League. To see more information on this project please visit our Bryan Park Page.
